Reports claim the youth leader is in talks to join the Bharatiya Janata Party after being shunned by Congress.

Sachin Pilot has been removed as Deputy Chief Minister and Rajasthan PCC Chief, announced Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala on Tuesday. “Sachin Pilot, Vishvendra Singh and Ramesh Meena are far away from the posts of Deputy Chief Minister and Ministerial posts respectively. Sachin Pilot has also been removed as the Rajasthan PCC Chief,” said Surjewala. Govind Singh Dotasra has been appointed as the new PCC chief, he added.

Ever since the Congress party formed its government in Rajasthan, there were two power circles created, one being led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and other by Sachin Pilot. At an equivalent time, speculation also started that the flashpoint between Gehlot and Pilot in Rajasthan was a search ordered by the state police into “poaching” of MLAs and a notice sent to Pilot, which did not go down well with the leader.

The fast-paced political developments in Rajasthan began on Friday after Ashok Gehlot launched an inventory of allegations at the BJP, accusing it of trying to topple his government by offering bribes to Congress MLAs to switch sides.

The BJP asked Gehlot to prove his allegation of horse-trading or quit politics and claimed he was targeting the opposition party as he was unable to see the infighting in the state Congress. Later at night, Ashok Gehlot convened a cabinet meeting at his residence and discussed the emerging political situation in the state. The meeting was not attended by Sachin Pilot.

Ex Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Sachin Pilot had skipped the second meeting of Congress MLAs and supporting legislators at Jaipur, prompting the party in the state to move a resolution seeking action against him and other members of the rebel camp.

Pilot and another 16 MLAs kept away from the second meeting held at a city resort on Tuesday morning – they skipped the first meeting on Monday as well, showing he had not budged despite attempts by the party to lure him back.

On Sunday morning, a dozen of Sachin Pilot’s loyalists reached Delhi. “Twelve MLAs are with Sachin Pilot and can make a choice when the time comes,” they said. The loyalists of Sachin Pilot have alleged that Ashok Gehlot wants to oust the deputy chief minister as the PCC president, they also alleged that the Ashok Gehlot camp is attempting to defame Sachin Pilot.

Sachin Pilot had been camping in Delhi since Saturday. In communication through his office, Sachin Pilot had now declared an open rebellion, claiming the Ashok Gehlot government is in minority as over 30 Congress MLAs have “pledged support” to him. Sachin had also refused to attend the legislative party meeting called by the Congress on Monday at 10.30 am. Sources said that he is in talks with the BJP.

Rajasthan Police’s notice to Sachin Pilot to record his statement in reference to the alleged attempts to topple the Congress government within the state was the flashpoint between the 2 leaders which has escalated the rift. “Rajasthan police SOG memo has escalated rift. The SOG letter to question Sachin Pilot is unacceptable,” Sachin Pilot’s loyalists said.
