Toxic Smog Engulfs Delhi-NCR

As toxic smog continues to engulf Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).  A shocking new survey reveals that every family in the nation’s capital has at least one member suffering from pollution-related health issues. With air quality levels remaining “severe,” the situation is only worsening. Hence due to Delhi Pollution the government is pushing schools and offices to move classes and work to online modes to shield citizens from the dangerous air.

The Local Circles survey reports that a total of 75% of families are dealing with sore throats or persistent coughs, while 58% are struggling with headaches. Furthermore 50% are currently battling asthma or breathing difficulties due to the toxic air. Over the past month, the number of households reporting these health issues have doubled says the report. All of these particular issues are due to hazardous pollution.

The situation is dire: the 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) on Wednesday was a staggering 424, categorized as “severe” by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). In fact, PM2.5 levels in Delhi’s air are 60 times the World Health Organization’s recommended daily limit. The global body recommends that the annual average level of PM2.5 should not exceed 5 μg/m3.

Delhi Pollution: Polluted Air, Polluted Health

How are Delhi-NCR families coping with this health crisis? For many, the answer is a mix of precaution and resignation. 27% of families are investing in air purifiers, staying indoors as much as possible, and boosting their immunity with special foods and drinks. Due to the increasing levels of pollution, 58% families have members with headache, while 50% have someone with asthma or breathing difficulty, due to the highly toxic air quality.

Despite these efforts, many families feel trapped by the toxic air with Delhi Pollution . An alarming 27% say they are simply “living with it “resigned to the reality of worsening pollution. These families continue their daily routines, donning masks, taking immunity supplements, and hoping for a solution.

Air Pollution Tech: A Growing Investment

For those who can afford it, smart air purifiers and other high-tech solutions are becoming essential in the fight against the toxic air. These devices are helping families breathe easier, but the growing reliance on expensive technology speaks volumes about the inadequacy of government measures to protect public health.

Court’s Stern Warning Over Arising Pollution

Amidst all this Delhi pollution , the Supreme Court has lashed out at the Delhi government for its delay in enforcing Stage 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). Despite the alarming rise in AQI levels, the government has failed to implement crucial curbs to reduce pollution, such as shutting down schools, restricting construction, and limiting vehicular emissions. The Court has stressed that the delay is only worsening the health crisis.
