Scholarship opportunities for students of Assam through Xomidhan ScholarAssist.
Xomidhan, the first non profit and free career counselling portal of North East India, completed glorious ten years on 1st January, 2020. It started on 1st January, 2010 as a humble effort which now has turned into an organisation with volunteer counsellors from many parts of the world, providing career guidance on several domains such as career options after Class 12, conventional career options like medical and engineering, higher studies in India and abroad, upcoming careers like journalism, creative writing, law, competitive exams like defence services, civil services, life sciences, business and management studies, and fine arts to name a few.
On its 10th anniversary, Xomidhan is taking the next big leap to bridge the gap between willing donors and deserving students looking for scholarship. So far, we have six scholarships available on our platform (www.xomidhan.org) and we are working our best to open the window of opportunity for the students as well as the donors who wish to lend their helping hand.

The current list of scholarships available on Xomidhan ScholarAssist are:
1. Ashok Kuhar Scholarship for HS (passed) Science Students.
Scholarship Description: This scholarship provides a sum of Rs 10,000 per annum for the Science students of Nagaon District who are currently pursuing their bachelor’s degree.
Eligibility Conditions:
a. Class 12th Marks should be more than 80 %
b. Total scholarship available: one
c. Family Income less than 2,50,000
d. District: Nagaon, State: Assam
e. Scholarship Amount: Maximum of 10,000 per annum for a maximum of 4 years.
About the donor: Mr Ankush Kuhar did his schooling and HS from Nagaon and B.Tech from NIT Warangal. He has been working with Amazon for the past 10 years. Since his college days he has been teaching in Ramanujan Junior college and over the past few years have been providing Career Counseling to students of various schools and colleges in Nagaon.
2. Maheswar Nath Memorial Trust (Agia, Goalpara) scholarship for two HS (all stream) passed students from Government schools every year.
Scholarship Description: This scholarship provides a sum of Rs 5,000 each to two students every year who passed out 10+2 (any stream) from any Government schools in Goalpara district.
Eligibility Conditions:
a. Class 12th Marks should be equal or more than 75 % (should study in Government schools only)Report this ad
b. Total scholarship available: Two
c. Family Income less than 1,70,000
d. District: Goalpara, State: Assam
e. Scholarship Amount: Maximum of 5,000 per annum per student for a maximum of 3 years.
About the donor: Maheswar Nath Memorial Trust is a not-for-profit trust established in June, 2009 and aims at uplifting the socio-economic conditions of our society. With its main motto as Encourage | Enable | Evolve, the trust works as a medium for people to empower themselves with knowledge and contribute back to their community.
3. Nakul Alaka Dutta (NAD) Scholarship for Girls in Science
Scholarship Description: This scholarship provides a sum of Rs. 5000 and a certificate to the highest female scorer in the AHSEC examination every year.
Eligibility Conditions:
a. The highest scorer among female candidates in AHSEC exam.
b. If more than one candidate has the highest score then preference will be given to students with respect to marks of physics and chemistry in that order.
c. There will be only one prize every year. If more than one student is eligible then the prize will be divided equally.
d. Scholarship Amount: Rs. 5000 and a certificate.
About the donor: Alaka Baishya Dutta is a retired teacher with over 35 years of working experience. Alaka Baishya Dutta is a graduate from Handique College and was the founder teacher of Sri Krishna Seva Ashram Prathamik Vidyalaya, Lokhra, where she worked tirelessly for 9 years before withdrawing her first salary in 1995. All this time she was ably supported by her husband Nakul Chandra Dutta, a retired government official.
4. Toppertalks – Dehi Ram Saikia Memorial Scholarship for HSLC Passed Student every year
Scholarship Description: This scholarship provides a sum of Rs 10,000 per annum for the HSLC passed students. Two students will be selected based of the academic records and family income.
Eligibility Conditions:
a. Class 10th Marks should be more than 60%
b. Total scholarship available: Two
c. Family Income less than 2,50,000
d. State: Assam
e. Scholarship Amount: Maximum of 5,000 per annum for a maximum of 1 years

5. Baruah-Hazarika Scholarship for HS (passed) Science Students
Scholarship Description: This scholarship provides a sum of Rs 10,000 per annum for Science students from Assam who are currently pursuing their bachelor’s degree. This is a one-time scholarship. Also if there are multiple eligible candidate for the scholarship, determination of the candidate will be done on a first come first serve basis.
Eligibility Conditions:
a. Class 12th Marks should be more than 75 %
b. Should have studied from any Government school in Assam (10th & 12th mark-sheets and pass certificate to determine the schools)
c. Total scholarship available: one
d. Family Income less than 2,50,000
e. State: Assam
f. Scholarship Amount: Maximum of 10,000 per annum for a maximum of 4 years.
6. Gonit Sora Scholarships
Gonit Sora INMO Prize
Scholarship Description: This scholarship provides a sum of Rs 1,000 each to all students every year who clear the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO) from Assam.
Eligibility Conditions:
a. Anyone clearing INMO from a centre in Assam.
b. Total scholarship available: as many as students who clear the INMO
c. If no student clears from Assam, then the prize is open for North East students.
d. Scholarship Amount: Rs. 1000 or two books (may exceed Rs. 1000 in value) that the candidate desires
Gonit Sora Higher Secondary Prize (Female)
Scholarship Description: This scholarship provides a sum of Rs 1,000 each to the highest scorer in mathematics among the female candidates in the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) exam.
Eligibility Conditions:
a. The highest scorer among female candidates in AHSEC exam in mathematics.
b. If more than one candidate has the highest score then preference will be given to students from arts stream and then to science stream with respect marks of statistics/computer science, physics and chemistry in that order.
c. There will be only one prize every year.
d. Scholarship Amount: Rs. 1000 or two books (may exceed Rs. 1000 in value) that the candidate desires
The counsellor pool of Xomidhan includes 20+ PhD scholars, 5 UPSC toppers from Assam as well as APSC toppers, rank holders in SEBA and AHSEC, journalists and TV anchors from leading national media, students studying in the leading universities of Europe, US, IIM, NIT and IITs, paddy and tea farmers, pilots, army and navy personnel, politicians and professionals working in different multi-national companies (MNCs) in different corners of the world.
Some of the key highlights from last decade of work by Xomidhan are:
1. Although online career counselling remains our major mode of helping the student/young professional community, we have also assisted students in making informed career decisions through other avenues such as phone counselling, WhatsApp group chats, and in-person workshops.
2. Using these counselling avenues, Xomidhan has provided guidance and assisted close to 2500 students/young professionals over the last decade.
3. Xomidhan has 273 approved counsellors to date spanning a wide range of career fields including but not limited to civil servants, scholars, lawyers, doctors, engineers, managers, artists, and teachers.
4. In order to assist students/young professionals faster, Xomidhan has also made the entire question/answer database accrued over 10 years publicly searchable through our website.
5. A well-articulated question helps the counsellors to provide the best possible answer/advice to the students. In order to assist the students in this regard, Xomidhan’s future efforts will focus on redesigning the website to provide step-by-step guidance to students towards posing their career-related questions clearly.
