WWE Extreme Rules results: Rey Mysterio loses an eye, doctors said his eyesight could be regained.
WWE Extreme Rules results: The ‘Eye for an Eye’ match between Seth Rollins and Rey Mysterio eventually lived up to its name as both of them tried to pull out each other’s eyes at “The Horror Show at Extreme Rules” in which Mysterio ended up losing his eye. Rey Mysterio who had injured his right eye month back in a match against Seth Rollins ended up losing an eye during the match, which led Rollins into vomiting all over the floor. Rollins drove Mysterio’s head into the corner of a staircase and was horrified to see that the match took such a nasty turn.
The whole scene shocked viewers at home, a quick update was released by WWE about Mysterio’s situation who was rushed to a local hospital and treated for a potential globe lucation. The doctors are confident that Mysterio’s eyesight could be regained, but only if the optic nerve is not severed and there is not too much strain on the blood vessels and nerves that connect the eye to the rest of the head.
When the match was announced last week, it was decided that the winner could be only decided only by extracting the opponent’s eye, and this disturbing moment was actually part of the plan. Rollins achieved his target by hitting Mysterio’s head into the staircase. Mysterio took off his mask and revealed that he has lost his eye, which prompted Rollins to vomit.
A similar incident happened with Mysterio when he first hurt his eye during May 11 Raw episode. There was a tag team match between him and Aleister Black against Rollins and Murphy. Rollins forced Mysterio out of the ring and Mysterio got his eye injured in a similar fashion. There were reports after that disturbing incident that Mysterio may plan to retire, soon after the incident Sunday’s match was announced.
