Fans pay their last tribute to their bellowed Glee Star, Naya Rivera in a vigil held at Lake Piru.
Dozens of fans along with family and friends of the late Glee star, Naya Rivera arrived at Lake Piru where the late actress tragically drowned and later was pronounced dead while on a boat trip with her four year son.
A Twitter Fan Page, ‘The Naya Army’, had organized the event where the fans got a chance to express their admiration and bid their last goodbye to the Glee star, Rivera
Many referred to Rivera’s portrayal of ‘Santana Lopez’, the flamboyant cold and mean ‘queer girl’ and remembered how it helped them to ‘come out’ as they felt it is OK to be different. Many fans had traveled from all over US to pay their last tribute to their adorable Glee Star.
The fans shared stories as to how Rivera’s portrayal of Santana Lopez impacted their lives. In the centre of the stage was a life poster of Rivera which was surrounded with flowers, candles and crosses. Fans who passed by stopped a while to tie flowers and photos on the railings before they took their chance on the stage to speak about the Glee Star while practicing social distancing and wearing face masks.

The late Glee Star, Naya Rivera went missing last month while on a boat trip with her four year old son, Josey. Rivera was declared ‘missing’ couple of hours later as she and her son didn’t return as per the scheduled expected time after they hired a pontoon boat and went swimming. As per the initial investigation, she could put back her son onto the boat but could not muster enough strength to get back to the boat.
The Ventura county Sheriff’s office declared her dead after a five day extensive search at Lake Piru with the search proved to be extremely challenging for the divers to lactate her body. Special arrangements were made with arranging a ‘specially trained sniffer dog and sonar equipment were deployed in the search operations as the waters in the lake was not only deep but murky as the base was full of dense cover of plants and shrubs.
The days of search operations were a dramatic emotional sequences as Rivera’s distraught family was seen arriving at Lake Piru with her father splashing the lake waters in an emotional gesture desperate to spot his lost daughter while her mother was seen breaking down near the site. In a rather twist of the tale was her ex husband Ryan Dorsey who did join Rivera’s family and showing his resolve to solidarity in the mourning with the family.
Later, he broke his silence by penning an emotional tribute to his ex wife stating that ‘this has been unfair’ and ‘he cant imagine raising their son Josey without her’. A host of her Glee castmates also broke silence and voiced their heartfelt tribute to the deceased Glee Star. Especially Rivera’s most linked co star – Heather Morris dancing to one of Rivera’s best song on her social media handle.
Naya Rivera was laid to rest after 11 days after she was pronounced ‘drowned and dead’. She was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial park.
Naya Rivera was a talented American television actress and singer who started her acting career at the age of four. appeared in many telemetries before she became an overnight sensation when she played the cold and mean ‘Santana Lopez’ In the Musical Drama series ‘Glee’ aired on Fox Television between 2009 and 2015.
