Eid-ul-Adah: Bakrid prayers at Eidgahs restricted for Coronavirus across Telangana

Eid-ul-Adah: Not more than five persons will be allowed to offer prayers every Friday even after Eid due to the alarming situation.

Eid-ul-Adah is celebrated on August 1 in Telangana but in most of the southern states, eid will be celebrated on Friday, July 31. Wakf Board authorities thereby looking at the surge cognition of amid COVID-19 has put some restrictions on devotees.

Wakf Board has announced that there will be no mass congregation prayers, devotees will offer a prayer from their homes. In Karnataka too, only 50 people will be allowed to offer prayer in the mosque as there will be restrictions on the mass gathering. Even in Hyderabad, historic Mecca near Charminar will not be opened to offer Eid Namaz.

Maulana Hafeez Mohd Rizwan Qureshi, Imam of Mecca Masjid said that Mosques would not be opened for namaz due to the rise alarming situation prevailing in Hyderabad and across India. He added that even after the lifting of the lockdown, not more than five persons will be allowed to offer prayers every Friday.

Telangana state Wakf Board Chairman Mohd Saleem said,” Mass gathering for mass prayers is strictly prohibited. “Namaz-e-Eid” will not be held in the open grounds or Eidgah. However, Devotes in a limited number with not more than 50 in number will be allowed to offer Namaz in the local mosques, following social distancing norms. Prayers may be held twice to allow more worshippers during the day” Mosque Committees have also requested senior citizens, children below 10 years in age group and people suffering from cough, cold and with comorbidities like blood pressure or diabetes have also been urged to stay at home.

The Telangana High Court had also directed Municipal Authorities on Thursday to regulate strictly animal sacrifice. Therefore, Municipal authorities have appealed to people to avoid buying sheep or goats and to visit public places for it’s slaughtering. Officials said,” This facility will be provided at the outskirts of the city. Moreover, for the slaughtering of the animals, they should avoid visiting public places instead of doing it in the slaughterhouses”.

Bakra Eid, Eid-ul-Adah is the festival of sacrifice and it is observed on the tenth day of Dhu-al-Huzzah, the twelfth and the last month of the Islamic Calendar which glorifies eternal faith in the Almighty who guides to remain united in love, compassion and mutual support.” said Governor Arif Mohammad Khan in his greetings.
