COVID 19: The vaccination drive launched in Assam is in its full swing and people in large number are inoculating themselves at COVID vaccination centres since morning. But many complained about inconvenience at the vaccination centre due to large number of people’s gathering.
As the target of inoculation is nearly three lakh, people, every day, a swarm of people was observed at the Centre. Though people are wearing masks rarely people are following social distancing norms.
The situation gets even more intense when your chance to get inoculated comes at the end of the day. This is what Adivasi student leader Joseph Minz faced when he went to the vaccination centre at Doolahat Tea Estate in upper Assam’s Lakhimpur district and waited till noon for his chance. But his all efforts went in vain as he gets inoculated at end of the day.
There is no relief from overcrowding until the end of the day.
Speaking on the condition of the vaccine centres he told reporters that around noon he was supposed to take the vaccine because there was no sign of any decline in the rush of people.

Joseph managed the crowd but due to the limited number of vaccines administers each day, the locals rushed to the session site again on Tuesday morning.
The tea garden people received the information that only 400 doses will be administered in a day. Hearing this, they rushed to get the shots before their neighbours. It seems like it has become a rat race, he added.

The total number of vaccination in two days crossed the stipulated target of six lakh on Tuesday morning. The response was overwhelming across village and towns.
Vaccination spokesperson Munindra Nath Ngatey urged the people to not cause a hurry and obey the COVID rules. the violation of the same can lead to the spread of the virus. they will continue the vaccination drive and there will be absolutely no dearth of vaccines.
He requested the people to come to the vaccination centres as per their nearby centres.
The highest number of jabs was administered in Kamrup(Metropolitan) district on Tuesday. More than 24,000 beneficiaries got inoculated. The health department is busy keeping a track of the vulnerabilities in the second wave besides size and population. However, there is another side of the story, locals have blamed the improper information providing mechanism as the reason behind the chaos in various centres.
Maintaining long queues is a tough task. Partha Saika of Rnagamati went to the Bholaguri Kamala Miri HS School centre in Golaghat district at 8:30. But the centre was already full with the villagers as they started arriving there from 6 am.
To control the queue a token system was adopted but handling large crowd is beyond their control.
Golaghat has reported the third-highest number of COVID cases (1,972) in the last 10 days. New cases during the period are counted for all 33 districts of the state.
