Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conducted a review meeting on Monday with power minister and officials.
Review meeting with Power minister: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday asked power companies to plug revenue loss and design modalities to increase their revenue earnings and profits including an energised service delivery system for consumers.
This statement was made during a review meeting with officials of APDCL, APGCL, AEGCL and Power Department and power minister Bimal Borah.
He further wrote that he has asked APDCL officials to prepare a list of cement companies and other high valued consumers, tally their production with GST returns & electricity bill.
It is an effort to bring in semblance between total quantum of electricity consumed and electricity bill paid.
As per the manifesto of BJP in Assam, the BJP promised two lakh government jobs (1 lakh before March 31, 2022). Another pledge ‘Sankalpa’, has been taken to make Assam India’s entrepreneurial hub. The manifesto promised to create ten lakh youth entrepreneurs through a Swami Vivekananda Asam Youth Employment Yojana.
According to a survey by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), Assam’s unemployment rate at a 19-month is high of 11.1 per cent in April 2020, rising from 0.7 per cent in April 2016.
However, the data has also shown a sharp recovery post lockdown with unemployment down to 1.6 per cent in February 2021.
Among others, I asked @apdclsocial to prepare a list of cement companies & other high valued consumers; tally their production with GST returns & electricity bill. This will be done to bring in semblance between total quantum of electricity consumed and electricity bill paid. 2/2 pic.twitter.com/64OzWsmTIZ

Meanwhile, on World Blood Donor Day 2021, Assam CM took to Twitter to congratulate those who donated blood and plasma to patients who needed transfusion throughout the pandemic.
He has also urged everyone to volunteer for Blood Donation time to time as it can save many lives.
“Give blood & keep the world beating,” he wrote.
A few days back, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma requested the Muslims to adopt decent family planning in order to bring down poverty and social problems. He also hoped that the community would come together to respect the government’s stand.
This statement stirred a controversy. Md. Aminul Islam, Mankachar MLA and organising secretary of AIUDF termed the CM’s statement a political statement targeting one community.
He said that it’s quite improper for the CM to target one community over this issue as we have seen that spurt in population is also seen among scheduled caste (SC) communities and tribals. They also want population to be controlled, but the government’s primary focus should be on issues like illiteracy, poverty etc.
