Residents of a Berlin suburb were baffled for weeks over the mysterious disappearance of their footwear only to learn that the culprit was someone unexpected.
In a bizarre incident, locals in the suburbs of Berlin, Germany were puzzled over the mysterious disappearance of their shoes. They were baffled over weeks, later were left wonderstruck after unmasking the mysterious culprit. The locals of Zehlendrof, a suburb in Berlin were puzzled with the missing sandals, shoes, flip flops and sneakers and were left in disarray.
It remained an unsolved mystery until a local resident, Christian Meyer, who’s running shoes went missing, posted about it on a popular German notice sharing platform called Nebenan de. To his surprise, he found out that many fellow locals have posted similar stories on the loss of their shoes or sandals accounting to over 100 pairs missing.
Mr Meyer kept an eye on the bizarre disappearance of the shoes and ultimately uncovered the mysterious culprit. It happened to be a fox. He caught it red handed while it was stealthily walking away with a pair of flip flops, followed it across, only to discover the fashionista fox’s collection of shoes.

Later, the photos were shared by a an editor of a local newspaper publication which got thousands of likes. While Meyer is yet to recover his lost shoes, atleast three owners have rightfully reclaimed their stolen shoes – a local media reported.
The collection of shoes wee discovered near the fox’s den, down the hole. Many of the footwear was in good condition. In the collections, although laces were missing in quite a few shoes.
The locals were happy to have found out their missing footwear. According to a local police spokesperson who briefed the media, there was everything from ladies shoes to trainers’s and had a 100 to 110 odd shoes. It looks like the vixen might have stolen it for its cubs to play with.
