Assam-Tripura Border Dispute: A state boundary dispute with Assam and Tripura has been a major concern for the Mizoram BJP unit. In a letter to Chief Minister Zoramthanga, the Mizoram BJP unit has requested him to solve the same. The Mizoram BJP unit stated in a letter that Cente is keen to resolve the boundary disputes among the northeastern states.
The letter said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah wants to resolve inter-state border disputes through bilateral talks and instructed all the northeastern states on at least two occasions.
It is necessary for the Mizo National Front (MNF) spearheaded by Zoramthanga, should find an opportunity to resolve the border dispute with Assam and Tripura at a time when the BJP is in power at the Centre and in the two neighbouring states.
MNF is BJP led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA).
This is not the first time that leaders have expressed concern to resolve border disputes, earlier top leaders of Mizoram Presbyterian Church, had also beseeched Zoramthanga to take necessary measures to put an end to border disputes with neighbouring states.

The location of Mizoram is placed in such a way that its borders share with both states Assam and Tripura. Assam shares at about 164.6 km long inter-state boundary along with Assam and about 66 km with Tripura.
The border dispute between Mizoram and Assam is not a new issue. It’s a long pending issue, which has not been tackled properly and thereby has remained unresolved to date.

To solve the dispute, in the past, several dialogues took place since 1995. The purpose is one that is to resolve the border dispute. But unfortunately, even dialogues have yielded have not yielded significant result.
The last border standoff between Mizoram and Assam held on June 5. The reason was when unidentified people torched two abandoned farmhouses in the area claimed by both states.
Before this, in 2014 the disturbances emerged over the Assam-Nagaland border. At that time Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar wanted to end the disturbances among the borders. The only way, according o him was an amicable solution through dialogue between the chief ministers of the two states.
