Coronavirus: Assam To Increase Bed Capacity Upto 1500 For Covid-19 Patients

Assam government set to increase Covid-19 beds.

Coronavirus cases are rapidly increasing throughout the country. Simultaneously, there is an urge to increase the number of over 1,500 beds in Assam due to the rapid rise in positive cases.

Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that three new Covid-19 Care Centres will be functional very soon in the state. Initially, 850 beds will be functional at Nehru stadium in Guwahati. Beside this, 704 beds will be operational at Mirza Covid Care Centre. He further added that soon 40 beds will be functional at the third centre for the women and children in Guwahati.

Amidst the pandemic, all the scientists, pharmaceuticals, and doctors are giving their best to manufacture the medicine for coronavirus so that the situation can be controlled. Till date India has started trial on COVAXIN which is an indigenous vaccine by Bharat Biotech developed in collaboration with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) – National Institute of Virology (NIV).

The indigenous, inactivated vaccine is developed and manufactured in Bharat Biotech’s BSL-3 (Biosafety Level 3) high containment facility.
The vaccine has received DCGI approval for Phase I & II Human Clinical Trials and the trials for the same have started across India from July, 2020.

As of now, the total number of cases in Assam are 22,090. In the last 24 hours 1,057 cases were recorded with 7 deceased and 1,593 patients recovered. Himanta Biswa, Health Minister is putting up his best efforts to bring the situation under control by providing all the best facilities and by putting up all the best efforts.
